FMQ Feather samples

Here are my first samples for the FMQ Challenge run by SewCalGals. Feathers taught by Diane Gaudynski. I still have to do my sample on my SAMPLE quilt! I have also decided to do some of these samples using one of my treadle machines, I have already done the leaf on the treadle and will post photo's after I have done some more feathers. JUST LOVE FEATHER QUILTING!!!!!

I have made this sideboard runner for myself it is made up using many different techniques
Stencilling using shaving cream learnt from LuAnn Kessi from May Your Bobbin Always Be Full

Feather quilting using
Diane Gaudynski method and Frances Moore's Leaf quilting

  1. Wow! These are looking gorgeous! Looks like somebody is a natural at feathers!!

  2. You are really good at feathers and free motion quilting altogether. I wish I had time to try all of these too! Was hoping for a lotto win at the weekend but not to be. Had to stay at work for the whole long weekend after all.

  3. Your feathers are beautiful. I love what done by colouring them in. They look like they are floating on the fabric. Bravo.. well done!

  4. Wow. this is a very beautiful work. How do you paint to color,

    1. On the feathers I have used water soluble crayons then painted over with textile medium!!!

  5. Beautiful feathers! I love your backing withe the coloured feathers - that is incredible, and certainly would become a front for me!

  6. beautiful work!
I really like what you did to your backing. A surprise where you are not expecting one to be.

  7. Wonderful technique with feathers and color both!

  8. Love your feathers and that you colored them. Very cool.
