Tote and Gloat

I have attended Tote and Gloat in Palmerston North last Saturday WOW!!! what a great day again.
Annette WON the block challenge! Well Done Annette! (Annette stayed with me for the weekend she comes from Auckland)
I was lucky enough to get first in the "Anything Goes" section and Second in the "Advanced" section on the challenge.
There were amazing quilts in the show and tell in the morning. Lots of shops to shop at and another view of all the lovely quilts.
After lunch we had the most amazing speaker "Yvonne Brown" from the UK.
WOW!!! I will have try some of her technique's I bought her wonderful book. Read it cover to cover the next day. It has fantastic illustrations

My niece Claire and her friend Annette fron Auckland stayed with me for 4 days, we had such a great time together talking, sharing quilt stories, shopping, looking around at old sites with some lovely memories of old times.

I have guests coming next weekend so need to do some housework BUT quilting is far more exciting, at least I have made their beds. Happy Quilting.

thread painted portrait (now with flowers)

I was not quite happy with Cara's hair on her right shoulder, I think this is fixes the problem. I'm much happier about it with the added flowers!!!!!

I have been having some fun with this one!!!! I saw this idea on a QATV DVD.
I can see a few more of these happening. I still have to finish this, first I will have to let it dry as I have just washed out the water soluble vilene. The background fabric are some of my hand painted fabrics. I think some quilting will add more interest to this piece. And I'm sure it did!!!!

April's 12" x 12" ' COLD'

This is my Kiwiquilters 12" x 12" Challenge for April. "COLD" was the theme for this one.
In 2010 I turned 60. I have years of quilting still to do, so many ideas floating around in my head, not that good at writing I'm afraid, it is the quilting I love. I have to admit I struggle with the artist statements you often have to write when submitting a art or quilted piece for CHALLENGES!!!!!!
