More FMQ leaf pattern

While sorting out my studio I came across this top pictured above which my daughter had pieced together about twenty years ago I am thinking she was about 11 or 12 years old at the time.
When I look at this quilt I realise what a fantastic job she had done with the piecing as all the fabric's are poly/cottons not the best to stitch. What a shame Dayna is not a quilter today.
It had been put together as a duvet cover with NO quilting, I took the back off and had to mend about 3 seams that had pulled apart.
I had to try out my new leaf FMQ pattern I just learnt on something bigger than just a small quilt sandwich. I have also added some feathers.

Photo's from the back of the quilt.

Hooked on FMQ

Now that I have done all those practise pieces I thought it would be a good time to add some of my FMQ to a Quilt!!!! This Smurf Quilt I made up yesterday using fabric painted by my Grandson some time ago: click here to check it out--> (Blue,Teal and Grey Fabric).

I have done three different FMQ styles Leaves as allover pattern on the painted fabrics, Scrolls around the Smurfs and Feathers in the border.

A closeup of the leaves!!!

While I was having my big cleanup ( which I have not finished Yet!!!!) I came across a quilt top made by one of my daughters,( I think she was at high school at the time she made it) it had been used as a duvet cover so I have unpicked the back of and I will practise my FMQ on it.

FMQ leaves with swirls

Today I tried another FMQ pattern, the leaf pattern with a swirl. Hard to see on this painted fabric which may be just as well, it is not the best but will try some more one day. As usual I don't like to throw anything away.!!!! So I thought this time I would make a cell phone pocket!!
When I finished it I found the corners were not so good. I like the saying "There is no such thing as a mistake! it is an artists' opportunity" Now that is why it has the buttons on it, I must admit I think it really gives it style.

I just LOVE to play!!!!!!

I still have a lot more sorting in my studio to do! But I really need a break from all that kind thing and I need to play some more, JUST love playing!!!!!!!
Today I made up a quilt top to do my FMQ on for the sewcalgal Challenge. It is really interesting reading all the posts about how quilters are getting on with this challenge. So inspirational!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I play around with little sample pieces I just don't like throwing them out ( I am such a hoarder) So I thought I would make my small sample pieces into ATC Cards it also gave my the opportunity to do some more painting on fabric. I am hoping to make a needle case using the blue piece I have quilted, I have used the leaf pattern as a fill in pattern around the feather.

It was raining today!!!!!!!!!!

WELL!!!! I wonder how long I can keep these shelves tidy??????????

Here is my new work top there will be some small adjustments made to this, as I need my cutting board a little higher!!!!! And how long can I keep it clear of STUFF!!!!!

LOOK I have found TWO sewing machines now Still have another couple to find!!!!!!!!!!!!
The end you cannot see still has a way to go, lots more sorting and rearranging to do. But a least I can SEW now if I want to YEAH!!!!!!!!!!

Finally found my Sewing Machine

I have joined Free-Motion Quilting Challenge hosted by SewCalGal here is the first challenge design by Frances Moore

I am in the middle of having a MAJOR clean and tidy in my studio. I am only half way through but managed to find the sewing machine today. I have been so excited about trying this, SO here is my first attempt.
I plan to make up a sample sandwich of pale colours and quilt in a darker thread, below is the fabric I have painted for the sample quilt.
